The Wattenscheider Bach is a flowing body of water in the Wattenscheid district of Bochum . It is about seven and a half kilometers long and right tributary of the Schwarzbach .

One of the two source streams rises in Stalleicken at Helfs Hof , the other at the Catholic Church of the Heart of Jesus . The stream continues along the Wattenscheid city center. It flows into the Schwarzbach in Gelsenkirchen and is part of the Emscher river system .

Renaturation

The Emschergenossenschaft is carrying out a renaturation measure as part of the conversion of the Emscher system . Pure water and dirty water should be discharged separately. The renatured body of water should run open in the area of "Berliner Straße" and "Westenfelder Straße", furthermore between "Obertor" and the stockpile Rheinelbe In particular, the pipe below the Merry Morning Sun colliery should be opened. The Wattenscheider Bach is connected to a pure water canal from the “Wilhelm-Leithe-Weg”.

Construction work began at the turn of the year 2011/2012.
