Waverley Root

Waverley Lewis Root (born April 15, 1903 in Rhode Island , † October 31, 1982 in Paris ) was an important American journalist and author who mainly dealt with topics related to food culture .

He lived in Paris from 1927 to 1934 and from 1945 until his death, originally worked as the European correspondent for the Chicago Tribune , but at the end of his life published a regular column in the International Herald Tribune in which he philosophized about food .

With his publications such as The Food of Italy , Italian Cooking and Food in America , he made a decisive contribution to the development of American cuisine .
