Wayne Otto , OBE (born May 18, 1966 in London ) is a British karateka (5th Dan Uechi-ryu karate style), ex- national trainer of Great Britain , national trainer of Norway and multiple karate European and world champion of WUKO / WKF .

Career

Wayne Otto began Uechi-ryu karate with Terry Daly in London at the age of 14. He won his first national championships at the age of 17. He was later trained by Tycky Donovan (Ishin-ryu style). Wayne Otto is one of the most successful British karatekas alongside Geoff Thompson and Pat McKay . He is considered a pure Shobu-Sanbon specialist. He won the national British championships a total of 29 times. He was a multiple British student champion, EKU European champion , multiple WUKO and WKF world champion and multiple World Cup winner. In 1997 he was the World Games winner . In 2001 he was appointed Officer of the British Empire . In 2005 and from 2007 to 2012 he was the national coach of Great Britain . Since 2012 he has also been the national karate trainer for Norway . In July 2012, he received from the University of Kent , the honorary doctorate . Wayne Otto holds training courses in the karate college every year . The improvement of trainer education is very important to him.
