The title Wedelträger to the right of the king (more precisely: Wedelträger to the right side of the king ) was a high court rank at the royal court of the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom .
The office has been attested since the early 18th dynasty, but in a different spelling ( Ḥbs-bht ) than was customary in later times. The common spelling of the title has been around since the reign of Queen Hatshepsut (Tjai-chu; kommt3.y-ḫw - frond bearer ). In the form of a frond bearer to the right of the king , the title was intended primarily for high officials, such as the king's son of Kush or the vizier . These officials can often be represented with a frond in hand next to the king ( Pharaoh ).
