Crossroads in Archignat

The wayside cross , also known as Croix des Âges after the nearby hamlet of Les Âges , in Archignat , a French commune in the Allier department in the northwest of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , was erected at the end of the 14th or beginning of the 15th century . The wayside cross on the Route de Chambérat was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1969 as Monument historique .

The sandstone cross has an octagonal shaft on which a figure stands on a console. The sculpture of Christ crucified on one side of the cross is no longer completely preserved. On the back the crowned Mother of God is shown with the child in her arms.
