description

The founder of after handing down entstammende the mid-19th century processional cross is unknown. Even at the time of the protection status (1985) it was still assumed that the cross was made of stone. In the course of the demolition of the adjacent old building, however, the permanent removal of the cross was also up for discussion. Initially dismantled for security reasons, it was found during the subsequent restoration under 26 layers of paint that it was actually a wooden cross.

During the night of November 19 to 20, 2006, the body was torn off by strangers, which at the same time was damaged. After being called up via newspapers and showcases in January 2007, the perpetrator (s) deposited the stolen goods in front of a house entrance. After renewed restoration, Pastor Kissel blessed the cross on April 13, 2007. Originally the front face was oriented to the east, but since the repositioning it faces the street.

The entry of the wayside cross in the list of monuments of the city of Bergisch Gladbach took place on May 31, 1985 (monument no. A 96).
