Overall view (2014)

The paths cross in Lustheide , a district of Bergisch Gladbach , is under preservation stationary monument . Its location is to the right of the house Lustheide 44 on the edge of the parking lot belonging to it, on the connection path from the  street Lustheide designated as Landesstraße 136 to the street Im Hilgersfeld .

history

In 1876, the baker August Ossenbach from Lindlar and his wife Elisabeth Ossenbach, née Arnold, who was born in Kürten , bought what is possibly the oldest inn on the Lustheide, an old street settlement whose name refers to the high medieval estate on the Lauffsheiden . An inn is documented for the first time at this point for 1626, as its operator Jahn Mottenkopf is mentioned. In 1688, Clemens Steingaß was named as the landlord and lay judge . He was followed by Conrad Schinck (1722), a Peter Fußbroich , after whom the property is also called Fußbroichs Gut , and other owners, although it is not known whether they all used the property as an inn.

Ossenbach ran a steam bakery on the Lustheide, and sold his goods by horse and cart to what is now the Refrath district. He recognized the good location on the Königsforst and recommended his Gasthaus August Ossenbach to "summer visitors, cyclists and tourists" by placing advertisements in 1899 . With excellent food and drinks, cheap prices and good service. While the nickname Restoration zum Königsforst came up later, the Ossenbachs also ran a post office and acted as a public telephone station from 1900 at the latest. In 1920 her daughter Therese, who was married to the sawmill owner Carl Niedenhof , sold the house, which is still run as an inn and restaurant, later also under the name Tannenhof , to police sergeant Niklaus Kleer .

In memory of the 25th anniversary of their marriage (April 23, 1872), the couple had the Ossenbach cross in 1897 erected. As a result of the increasing development of the Lustheide and a changed layout of the property belonging to the inn, its original location has since changed to the current one. In 1998 the cross was last restored, during which its base was increased.
