Signpost (Meilendorf Southwest)

Signpost southwest of Meilendorf

The signpost southwest of Meilendorf is a small monument in the city of Southern Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt .

There is a signpost at a junction on Kreisstraße 2077, southwest of Meilendorf . It points to Ziebigk on the one hand, and to Repau and Zehmigkau on the other . In contrast to the other two places, Repau was spelled very differently, namely Röpe . Whether this is an indication of a higher age cannot be conclusively assessed. Repau was initially a Saxon and from 1815 a Prussian exclave in Anhalt. So maybe it's just a wrong spelling, especially since you could even read Nöpe .

The fact that Zehmigkau is also mentioned could also be evidence of a higher age of the stone, as already on the measuring table sheet 2387 Quellendorf (photo 1852, published Berlin 1872) no path branching off to the north can be seen. Even then, the path had apparently been cut by a quarry. Since the stone is an important traffic monument , it is under monument protection and has the registration number 094 70223 in the monument register .

According to information from residents, the stone was knocked over and put back in place incompletely. Arrows with feathers serve as direction indicators.
