Detail of the white woman

The last boundary stone of the measurement and berainung of the electoral forests in the office of Schwarzenberg in the Ore Mountains is called the white woman .

history

In the years from 1786 to 1794 an extensive re-measurement of the electoral forest areas in the upper Ore Mountains was carried out, as a result of which numerous rain and boundary stones with consecutive numbers and the Saxon swords were placed on the forest areas, of which numerous examples are still available today. A few hundred meters east of the Hohen Henne ( 674  m above sea level ) near Schwarzenberg , on the road to Jägerhaus , the last artistic boundary stone was erected. Instead of the usual granite, marble from Crottendorf was used.

The names of those involved are mentioned as inscriptions on all four sides, including the forester Gottlob Heinrich von Lindenau .

Due to the light appearance of the stone, the popular legend of a white woman soon grew up around this stone, who was left by her husband and waited at this point for his return home at midnight.

After 2006 the electoral coat of arms was removed.
