The willow-leaved hammer bush ( Cestrum salicifolium ) is a plant species from the genus of hammer bushes ( Cestrum ).

description

The willow-leaved hammer shrub is a 2 to 3 m high shrub with slender, hairless branches. The leaves are alternate, membranous, elliptical or ovate-lanceolate. They become 8.3 to 17 cm long and 0.8 to 3 cm wide. Towards the front they are pointed, the base is pointed and runs into the 3 to 8 mm long petiole . The edge of the sheet is wavy. The top is dark green and shiny, the bottom is paler. The leaves are hairless, they have 17 to 18 pairs of side veins and are veined like a net in between.

The inflorescences are both terminal and in the armpits. In the axils of the inflorescences consist only of a single flower, the terminal buds are five to neunblütige grapes . The inflorescence stalks are thread- shaped and 2 to 8 mm long, the flower stalks are 3 to 5 mm long. The calyx is tubular, 4 mm long, hairy, covered with five calyx teeth and traversed by five veins. The calyx lobes are triangular, slightly pointed to blunt and tomentose on the edge. The crown is greenish-white and 2.8 to 3 cm long. The corolla tube is almost cylindrical, the corolla lobes are ovate-lanceolate, pointed or pointed and 7.5 mm long. The edge is hairy. The stamens have a pronounced tooth.

The berries are egg-shaped or elliptical and about 6 mm long. They contain 4 mm long, black, elongated seeds .

Occurrence

The species occurs in Venezuela , at least one specimen has also been collected in Puerto Rico .
