Weier drives and energy technology
The Weier drives and Energietechnik GmbH is a German motor manufacturer based in Eutin , who has specialized in recent years in the construction of wind power generators. Weier Energie was founded in 1945 by Heinz Weier and today has more than 70 employees. Weier was the first company to manufacture generators for wind turbines.
Today, Weier has focused on three business areas: Renewable energies , maritime industry and mechanical engineering .
history
In 1945, Heinz Weier and three employees founded the Weier Elektromotorenwerk in Eutin in the Ostholstein district in eastern Schleswig-Holstein . Initially, the then small company began repairing electric motors, with around 30,000 electric motors being produced per year in 1960. In 1962, Weier's production area was already 2000 m². In the same year, the team at the electric motor plant consisted of more than 100 employees.
In 1983, the company's founder, Heinz Weier, resigned as managing director for reasons of age and handed over the business to Georg Merchlowski, Thomas Karck and Hermann Oehme. At that time, Weier began producing generators for wind turbines and was the first company in Germany to deal with the production of this renewable energy . In 1988 the company moved to the Eutins industrial estate . In the following two years a further expansion of the number of employees and sales could be noted. During these years, Weier also increased its focus on the new development and manufacture of generators for wind turbines and also for block heating systems. In the mid-1990s, Weier's workforce numbered more than 150.

Weier Antriebe und Elektrotechnik GmbH initially specialized in the production of electric motors. At the beginning of the 1960s, Weier had produced around 30,000 electric motors under the leadership of Heinz Weier . In the following years the focus was more on the production of generators. Weier Drives and Electrical Engineering then also dealt with the development and production of generators for renewable energies . The product field includes synchronous motors , synchronous generators , asynchronous generators and permanently excited generators.

- Weier develops wind power generators for small and large wind power plants , asynchronous generators , permanent magnet generators and pitch motors.
- In the field of the maritime industry , Weier is active in shipbuilding . Weier also manufactures drive motors for mechanical and plant engineering as well as travel drives.
Personalities
Heinz Weier was the founder of the Weier Elektromotorenwerk in 1945. He led the company for a total of 38 years. Thereupon Georg Merchlowski, Thomas Karck and Hermann Oehme became managing directors of Weier. The company has been headed by Heiko Asum and Dirk Burhorn since 2006.
