The Horst Sauer winery is a multiple award-winning winery in the Franconian wine-growing region . The estate is located in the Volkach district of Escherndorf in the Kitzingen district and is in the middle of the village on Bocksbeutelstrasse.

history

Horst Sauer took over the small Escherndorf estate from his father. At that time, the business only covered the small area of ​​1.5 hectares of vineyards . A short time later, in 1994, the area under vines had grown to 5 hectares. After the winery won more and more awards in the 21st century, Sauer was able to further increase the area of ​​its estate. In 2013 the area was 16.5 ha, by 2016 it had grown to 18.5 ha.

Wines and sites

The winery mainly grows Silvaner (38%), Müller-Thurgau (23%) and Riesling (15%). In addition to Bacchus , Scheurebe , White - and Pinot Noir read. At Müller-Thurgau, late harvest predominates. The wines mature in large steel tanks. Most of the grapes grow in the Escherndorfer Lump and Escherndorfer Fürstenberg sites . These layers contain shell limestone, Lettenkeuper and loess loam.
