from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Michael Fröhlich winery is a multiple award-winning winery in the Franconian wine region . It is located in the Volkach district of Escherndorf in the Kitzingen district and is in the middle of the village on Bocksbeutelstrasse.

history

In the 1980s, the winery, then managed by Michael Fröhlich's father, was part of the Franconian winegrowers' cooperative . With over 250,000 cuttings, the company was one of the largest vine refiners in the Franconian region . In 1985 Michael Fröhlich took over the estate and began to expand the property. He has been part of the VDP since 1997 . Today the winery covers an area of around 11.5 hectares, but many areas are leased. The winery was included in the Eichelmann wine guide.

Wines and sites

Michael Fröhlich grows different types of wine in his vineyards. The most common is the Müller-Thurgau grape (30%), followed by the Silvaner (20%) and the Riesling (15%). A special feature is the large proportion of red varieties (15%). The winery used to grow more Müller-Thurgau. The winemaker also grows rare varieties on some sites, such as the yellow muscatel on the soils in Untereisenheim.

The trained technician for viticulture and cellar management has, unlike other Escherndorfer hackers, not only specialized in the top locations. In addition to the Escherndorfer Lump and Escherndorfer Fürstenberg vineyards , Fröhlich's vines are also located in the Eisenheim district in the Würzburg district . The wine grows on the Untereisenheimer Sonnenberg and Obereisenheimer Höll sites.
