The tomato clownfish ( Amphiprion frenatus ), and Red clownfish called, is a fish art from the family of damselfish . It lives in the coral reefs on the coasts of western Indonesia , the Philippines , the South China Sea , the Gulf of Thailand , the coasts of Taiwan and southern Japan in water depths of one to 12 meters.

The body and fins of the fish are red, in juvenile fish and the smaller males orange-red, in females bright red. The flanks of the females are mostly black at the top. A wide, white horizontal stripe runs over the head directly behind the eye. Young fish have a second white horizontal stripe in the middle of the body that disappears when they have reached a length of about 30 mm.

The dorsal fin has nine to ten hard and 16 to 18 soft rays, the anal fin has two hard and 13 to 15 soft rays. Amphiprion frenatus becomes 12 to 14 centimeters long. It has already been bred in the aquarium.

The fish only accept the bubble anemone ( Entacmaea quadricolor ) as a symbiotic partner.
