Welcome to the Real World is Mr. Mister's second studio album , released in November 1985. It was the group's only album that was commercially successful.
Emergence
All songs on this album were written by the band and Richard Page's cousin John Lang, some with the participation of other band members. Page had turned down offers to play at Toto and Chicago . The first single Broken Wings came out in September 1985 and only became an international hit after a few months, reaching number 1 in the USA.
Broken Wings was followed by the song Kyrie as a second release at the end of 1985 . He too became a success, with Mr. Mister again having a number 1 hit in the US charts. At this time, the album also reached the top of the US charts.
In the fall of 1985, the band toured with Tina Turner , for whom the song Stand and Deliver was written; but this finally appeared on the third album Go On ... , which the band called "some of the best stuff we ever did"; However, it could not build on the success of its predecessor.
reception
On allmusic.com , the music on the album was described as Genesis- like pop with "swirling keyboard textures , somewhat spiritual lyrics and polished studio magic". Four out of five stars were given as a rating.
