Wellington Zaza (born January 20, 1995 ) is a Liberian hurdler who specializes in distances of 110 m and 400 m. Zaza is the current junior African record holder in the 110 m hurdles. He achieved this feat at the 2014 Junior World Athletics Championships . Zaza also competed in the 2015 World Athletics Championships for Liberia .

Career

Zaza made his international debut at the 2014 Junior World Athletics Championships over 110 m hurdles and 400 m hurdles. In his preliminary run on July 22, 2014 at Hayward Field in Eugene , Oregon , he ran the 110 m hurdles in his annual best of 13.66 s and was 0.07 s behind the winner of the preliminary run Theophile Viltz and 0.02 s on second-placed Patrick Elger from Germany. Overall, Zaza was ninth fastest in the heats at the same time as Hungary's Valdó Szűcs . In the third semifinal run Zaza ran the Liberian junior record and was 0.08 s behind Tyler Mason from Jamaica second in the semifinals and qualified for the final on July 24th and improved his pre-run best to 13.38 s. Zaza finished fourth, 0.03 s behind the bronze medal. In the competition over 400 m hurdles Zaza was eliminated with a performance of 55.38 s in the lead.

At the 2015 World Athletics Championships , Zaza was the only participant from Liberia. He started in the 110 m hurdles and was the last of the rated runners in his preliminary run with 14.56 s, the second from last in the preliminary round.
