The Wellman Valley is a largely ice-free valley in the Darwin Mountains of the Transantarctic Mountains . It is immediately east of the Midnight Plateau and north of Mount Ash .
Scientists from a 1962 to 1963 campaign run by New Zealand's Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions explored and named it. It is named after the New Zealand geologist Harold William Wellman (1909–1999), who was involved in three campaigns in this research series.
