Wellwater Conspiracy is a rock band led by Matt Cameron and John McBain . Originally the band included former Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd , who left the band in 1998.

history

Wellwater Conspiracy was founded in 1993 by Matt Cameron, Ben Shepherd and John McBain. The first recording sessions took place in the basement of Cameron's house. In the mid-1990s, the band released two singles. In 1997 the group released their debut album Declaration of Conformity . Shortly thereafter, Cameron was selected to replace Jack Irons as drummer for grunge group Pearl Jam . Cameron and McBain chose to keep the group as a permanent side project, however, and the group released three more Wellwater Conspiracy albums since their debut: Brotherhood of Electric: Operational Directives (1999), The Scroll and Its Combinations (2001), and Wellwater Conspiracy ( 2003).

The band's music can be described by psychedelic garage sound. The band often plays with musicians who are friends. Special mention should be made of keyboardist Glenn Slater of the folk rock group The Walkabouts , Kim Thayil of Soundgarden , Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Josh Homme of the Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss .
