final
For Doug Mountjoy it was already the fifth final appearance at this tournament, of which he had won two, while his opponent Cliff Wilson had only reached a professional final for the second time - the first also at the Welsh professional championship.
Wilson initially took the lead 0: 1 and 1: 2, but Mountjoy turned the game around to 3: 2 and took a 5: 2 lead before his opponent was able to shorten it to 5: 3. But then Mountjoy won all four frames in a row necessary to win the game and thus for the third time the Welsh professional championship.
