World Meteorology Day

The World Day of Meteorology , International Day of Meteorology and Weltwettertag place annually around the world on March 23 and is meant to the 1950 Convention entered into force of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), which is based in Geneva , has remembered. At that time, a peaceful cooperation between the most diverse nations began, which was without example. Germany has been represented in this organization since 1954 by the German Weather Service (DWD), Austria joined in 1957. It was recognized that more reliable weather forecasts could be made from current global weather reports . Even wars or other ideologies could not prevent the exchange of data. The Geneva institution chooses special topics for Meteorology Day every year, such as weather forecasting techniques . In particular, the negative effects of extreme weather conditions on human life and economies could be reduced with better predictions.
