Wendell Jermaine Sailor (born July 16, 1974 in Sarina , Queensland , Australia ) is a former Australian rugby union and rugby league player . He was a national player of Australia in both variants.

Career

Sailor began his career with the Brisbane Broncos in 1993 . He developed into one of the best players in the world and won the World Cup with the Australian national team in 2000. In the Broncos he played with Lote Tuqiri . Sailor changed the code in November 2001, Tuqiri followed suit a year later.

Sailor was initially still active for Queensland, the Reds signed him for the Super 14 tournament . In his first year as a Union player, he also made his debut for the Wallabies, the Australian national team. He reached the final at the 2003 World Cup , but could not win the title as he had previously succeeded in the rugby league code. In 2006 he moved from the Reds to the Waratahs . Shortly after he switched, he tested positive for cocaine and banned him for two years.

In 2008 Sailor continued his career, he played rugby league again. The St. George Illawarra Dragons had signed him. In November 2009 he announced the end of his career. He will work in the Dragons' marketing department for the coming years.
