Kerstin Vogel

Kerstin Vogel (born March 18, 1985 ) is a former German swimmer. She was German champion in the 50 m chest and third in the 100 m chest and is the current German record holder in the 50 m chest on the 50-meter track. She currently lives in Essen and started working for SG Essen in September 2009 , where she is now active as a trainer.

Career

In her youth, Vogel swam for BSC Overath / Rösrath, before moving to SV Bayer Wuppertal with her trainer Hartmut Blume in 2001, where she competed for SG Bayer Wuppertal / Uerdingen / Dormagen . With this club, she won her first German year-old championship over 50-meter chest in 0: 32.49 minutes at the 114th German Championships in Warendorf in 2002 . In 2003 she was in her first final in the open class on the 50-meter track at the 115th German Championships in Hamburg, where she finished fifth in 0: 32.44 minutes.

In the summer of 2003, she and her trainer Blume moved to SV Schwäbisch Gmünd, where she stayed for the next two years and also did her A-levels. Already in November 2003 she was able to win the German runner-up on the 25-meter track for her new club and thus get the ticket for the European short course championships in Dublin, where she finished fourth in the final in 0: 31.07 minutes.

After graduating from high school in spring 2005, she took a break from swimming and only returned to the pool in summer 2006. From then on she started for SV Rhenania Köln under coach Ralf Steffen and also studied at the German Sport University in Cologne . Just one year later she was able to win the bronze medal at the 119th German Championships in Berlin in 0: 31.88 minutes and thus report back to the top German.

The high point of her career was in 2009. She won the 121st German Championships in 0: 31.20 minutes. her first German championship title in the open class over 50 meters chest and was able to qualify for the World Championships in Rome. There she finished eleventh after a German record (0: 30.77 minutes) in the lead-up to the semifinals in 0: 31.04 minutes and thus missed the finals. In autumn 2009 she set a new German record on the 25-meter lane at the 40th International Swimming Festival in Aachen (0: 30.14) and also took second place at the World Cup in Durban, South Africa over the 50-meter chest.
