Career
Wenguan Huang holds the racket in shakehand style. It covers both sides with knobs on the outside.
In China he was overshadowed by the absolute top players, such as Jiang Jialiang , Teng Yi or Chen Longcan . Therefore, he immigrated to relatives in Canada in the late 1980s. Here he lived with his wife in Toronto. As his name was hard to remember for the Canadians, they called him Johnny Huang . In 1991 he first appeared for Canada at the World Cup , where he a. a. defeated the Chinese Ma Wenge .
In 1992 Wenguan Huang moved to Halle (Westphalia) to compete in the Bundesliga for Spvg Steinhagen . A year later he moved to Montpellier. He continued to play international tournaments for Canada, including all world championships to date ( 2007 ). From 1991 to 2004 he won the North American Championship 11 times and the Commonwealth Championship twice. He won the ITTF ProTour tournament once and came second five times. In 1996, 2000 and 2004 he was represented at the Olympic Games.
Private
Wenguan Huang is married to table tennis player Zhu Juan, who played for VfB Lübeck in the first women's division from 1992 onwards . At the time it was the only married couple with both partners in the 1st Bundesliga.
