Wenzel (Opole-Falkenberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wenzel von Falkenberg , also Wenzel von Oppeln-Falkenberg , (* around 1340 , † 1369 ) was Duke of Oppeln and since 1362/65 Duke of Falkenberg , both of which were a fiefdom of the Crown of Bohemia . He came from the Opole branch of the Silesian Piasts .

Life

Wenceslas parents were Bolko II von Falkenberg and Euphemia, a daughter of the Breslau Duke Heinrich VI. Presumably before 1355 he was betrothed to Euphemia, a daughter of Duke Boleslaus von Beuthen and Cosel , whom he married in 1364.

After the death of his father in 1362/65, Wenzel's eldest brother Boleslaus / Bolko took over the reign of the Duchy of Falkenberg for both the second-born Wenzel and the youngest brother Heinrich .

After the older brother Boleslaus / Bolko followed his father in death in 1367 or 1368, Wenzel and Heinrich ruled together. However, as early as 1369, Wenceslas died without any descendants. He was succeeded as Duke of Falkenberg by his then 16-year-old brother Heinrich, with whom the direct Falkenberg line of the Opole Piasts expired in 1382.

Wenceslas widow Euphemia was married in 1369 or 1370 to Duke Bolko III from Münsterberg . She died in 1411.
