Wenzel Fuchs

Wenzel Fuchs (born March 19, 1963 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian concert clarinetist . He also gives master classes himself and is principal clarinet with the Berliner Philharmoniker .

Wenzel Fuchs grew up in a Tyrolean family who enjoyed making music and played the clarinet in local brass bands at an early age. After training at the Innsbruck Conservatory with Walter Kefer, he studied at the Vienna Music Academy with Peter Schmidl and gained his first orchestral experience as a substitute with the Vienna Philharmonic . After completing his studies, he was solo clarinetist at the Vienna Volksoper and in the ORF symphony orchestra .

He has been a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1993. He is a lecturer at the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and visiting professor at the Sakuyou University for Music in Okayama / Japan . In addition to appearances as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic and as a guest in other internationally recognized orchestras, he is a member of the chamber formations Berlin Philharmonic Wind Soloists , Berlin Philharmonic Wind Ensemble , Philharmonic Octet and Ensemble Metropolis .

From autumn 2008 to summer 2012 he was a professor at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin . Since October 2015 he has been a professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg .
