Wenzel Roritzer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wenzel Roritzer , also Roriczer , (* unknown; † before July 1419 in Regensburg ) was a German foreman of the late Gothic period .

Master Wenzel probably immigrated to Regensburg from Kolín in Bohemia around 1410 . He was one of the master builders who emigrated to the west from Bohemia after the dissolution of the Parler building huts and spread the knowledge of the new late Gothic formal language.

Wenzel founded the master builder dynasty of the Roritz, which was demonstrably supposed to determine the construction of the Regensburg Cathedral from 1415 to 1514 . He was the father of Konrad Roritzer and from 1414 at the latest, master builder of Regensburg Cathedral. The triangle vestibule of the main portal and the window zone of the northern tower hall go back to him. The named games impressively document his characteristic personal style.
