Wepke Kingma

Wepke Kingma (born September 16, 1955 in The Hague ) is a Dutch diplomat .

Life

Kingma graduated from high school in 1973 and studied international relations at the University of Amsterdam until 1979 . In 1980 he received a Master of Laws degree from Columbia Law School in New York . In the same year he joined the Dutch foreign service. He worked in the directorates for international treaties, for European integration, for development cooperation / Asia as well as in Brussels .

In 1995 he became head of the General Integration Section in the European Integration Directorate in The Hague. He then went to South Africa in 1999 and worked as head of the development cooperation section in the Dutch embassy in Pretoria . In 2002 he returned to The Hague and worked as a European policy advisor to the Prime Minister. In 2005 he took on the role of Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa Directorate , followed in 2008 as Head of the Directorate for European Integration. In 2011 Kingma became head of the European Integration Directorate and at the same time deputy head of the Directorate General for European Cooperation.

From 2013 to 2017 he was the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the European Union in Brussels.

Kingma has been the ambassador of the Netherlands to Germany in Berlin since August 29, 2017 .

Wepke Kingma is married and speaks Dutch , German , English and French .
