Raymonde ou l'évasion verticale is a 2018 French animated short film directed by Sarah Van Den Boom .

action

The old owl Raymonde Fortin lives alone in a house with a garden near the forest. She has never had a partner and longs for love and sex in old age. She absolutely fervently venerates the Virgin Mary , who nevertheless somehow managed to father a child; In everyday life, she is kept company by the imaginary cartoon characters of Teresa von Ávila and Elisabeth Báthory , which she also has as a painting on the wall.

Raymonde's daily routine is always the same: she spends time in the garden, goes to the nearby church and prays to Mary, then packs "worn" but actually only cheese-made briefs for prospective customers in Japan, later tries in vain to visit one with the postman Anatole Flirting coffee, and bathing naked in the forest lake at night, where she answers the voices of the forest. When postman Anatole brusquely rejects her after one of her advances, Raymonde is sad. The next time she goes to church, she accuses the Virgin Mary that virginity has brought her nothing and that she is tired of being without a partner. She plans to apologize to Anatole, but he no longer appears to pick up the mail from her. Raymonde furiously smashes the coffee set.

The following night Raymonde not only bathed in the lake, but waded through it. Following the sounds of the forest, she climbs a tree. Overwhelmed by the voices of the forest, she leaps into the depths. The next morning you see a woman crow alone in a hut by the forest; she hears the voices of the forest, two cartoon characters join her.
