Vera Nikolaevna Maslennikova
Vera Nikolajewna Maslennikowa ( Russian Вера Николаевна Масленникова ; born April 29, 1926 in the village of Priluki near Vologda ; † August 14, 2000 ) was a Soviet - Russian mathematician and university teacher .
Life
Maslennikova lost her parents at the age of 11. In 1941 she began training at a textile industry school. Then she took part in the German-Soviet War in the 413rd Air Defense Division at the front . She then studied at the Lomonossow University Moscow (MGU) in the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics , graduating in 1951 with Alexander Ossipowitsch Gelfond . This was followed by an apprenticeship with Sergei Lwowitsch Sobolew at the Moscow Steklov Institute for Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1954, she successfully defended her dissertation on solutions to initial value problems in the hydrodynamics of rotating fluids , taking compressibility into account for the doctorate for the candidate of physical- mathematical sciences.
In 1954 Maslennikowa became a research assistant at the Steklow Institute for Mathematics. Her main research interests were partial differential equations and functional analysis . In 1971 she successfully defended her doctoral thesis on mathematical problems of the hydrodynamics of rotating fluids and the Sobolew system for a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences. In 1974 she was appointed professor .
1975-1996 Maslennikowa headed the chair for differential equations and functional analysis at the Patrice Lumumba University of Friendship of Nations .
Honors, prizes
- Order of the Great Patriotic War II Class (1985)
- Bernard Bolzano Gold Medal of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (1985)
- State Prize of the USSR (1986 together with SL Sobolew and his collective )
