The Werner Achilles GmbH & Co. KG , as Achilles group is known, a family business for paper finishing and presentation products with headquarters in Celle .
Locations
Achilles employs more than 600 people at several locations in the two business areas of paper finishing and presentation products. It generates around 65 million euros annually and has 10 locations in Germany as well as a total of six branches abroad, three of them in the Czech Republic and one in Poland . All branches operate as independent operating companies, so that the Achilles Group is structured as follows:

history
Werner Achilles GmbH & Co. KG was founded by Werner Achilles in Celle in 1946 as a “glossy film laminating company”, which dealt exclusively with paper finishing. In 1956, with the establishment of the branch in Echterdingen, expansion into Germany began, and the presentation products division was established in the 1970s.
Paul Drews, son of Werner Achilles, took over the leadership of the group in 1991. Three years later, with his own production company in the Czech Budweis the expansion abroad. With the appointment of Thorsten Drews, Paul Drews' son, as managing director in 2005, Werner Achilles GmbH & Co. KG continued its corporate history in the third generation of owners.
The Achilles Group received the 2007 Axia Award in the “Family-Oriented Elements” category from the auditing and consulting company Deloitte for its clear structures, which prevent possible conflicts among family shareholders.
Products
Paper finishing
In the paper finishing Achilles offers from the paint on the lamination up to foil stamping and Einsiegelung all possibilities, print products such as books , brochures , magazines , packaging or catalogs upgrade. Almost every second book cover in Germany, for example, is finished by Achilles.
Presentation products
In the presentation products division, Achilles realizes individually developed and refined files , ring binders , ring binders or packaging from conception to production. Achilles not only offers innovative standard solutions as part of its wide range of products, but also manufactures according to individual wishes and specifications.
Lamination / sealing
Achilles is the only laminator to offer two sealing processes from a single source. The main advantage of lamination is that it protects print products from dirt and moisture. The upgrading of the print products is always double-sided with the help of polyester lamination or in the paper-safe process. Through the use of brilliant gloss, elegant matting or a reflection-free structure, prints gain in value, both visually and haptically. Achilles' range of services includes conception, implementation and production through to the complete handling of complex projects, including shipping at home and abroad.
Polyester lamination
Polyester lamination describes a continuous process in which a double-sided, full-surface bond between the print product and different thick polyester films is achieved under the action of pressure and heat. The variable combination option between film thickness and paper grammage enables flexible, still rollable, as well as rigid or stable end products.
paper-safe
In the paper-safe process, wood-free art or picture printing papers are sealed in. The process is primarily characterized by the fact that the prints are subject to special requirements, such as the inks being heat-resistant up to 150 degrees Celsius. The prints are melted as single copies between the PVC panels. As a result, the transition between the paper and the surrounding edge cannot be felt.
Packaging finishing
The finishing of high-quality packaging of all kinds and for different industries is also part of the range of services at Achilles. The company supports the development and implementation of complete packaging solutions and is available as a service provider to compensate for production peaks. Achilles production is certified according to ISO 9001 and thus guarantees the highest quality standards in packaging production.
