Nothing is known about his youth or education. From 1840 he attended the Episcopal Seminary in Paderborn. He was ordained a priest on August 28, 1841. From 1842 to 1845 he was school vicar in the parish of St. Dionysius in Elsen . On November 27, 1846, Werner Adolph Schupmann was solemnly introduced as the fourth school vicar in Ramsbeck by Pastor Bigge from Velmede . His salary was 250 thalers a year: 150 thalers vicar salary and 100 thalers school fees. Vicar Schupmann has also performed school duties for eight years in addition to his pastoral duties. In 1861 Schupmann becomes pastor of Ramsbeck. He died on March 16, 1879.

Important stages of his work in Ramsbeck: In 1846/1847 a new church was built under Schupmann's school vicar. The old chapel was no longer sufficient due to its state of construction and the constantly growing population. The inauguration ceremony was held on October 22nd, 1848 by the dean Böschen from Meschede . The immigration of several hundred miners during the Ramsbeck mining boom made the construction of a cemetery necessary. The new cemetery was inaugurated on November 9, 1857 by the dean Luig from Calle . From then on, the Ramsbeck dead were buried in the village itself. On November 23, 1861, the Ramsbeck vicarage was separated from the previous mother churches of Velmede and Remblinghausen . The Catholic parish of Ramsbeck was constituted, the first pastor was the school vicar Werner Adolph Schupmann.

In his honor, the street Zum Bastenberg was renamed Pfarrer-Schupmann-Straße in 1998 . A plaque commemorates Pastor Schupmann.
