Werner Andermatt

Werner Andermatt (born July 28, 1916 in Zug ; † May 29, 2013 ) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist .

Career

Werner Andermatt attended the Lucerne School of Applied Arts from 1935 to 1938 and trained as a drawing teacher and graphic artist . His further training took place in Paris (Akademie La Grande Chaumiere) and Zurich (Akademie Wabel). From 1938 on he worked for 10 years as a graphic artist and book designer until he became a teacher for figure drawing and graphics at the Lucerne School of Applied Arts in 1948. From 1950 to 1981 Andermatt was director of the Lucerne School of Design , in 1986 he received the Central Switzerland Culture Prize and in 1996 the Badge of Honor of the City of Lucerne . Andermatt was a member of visarte (professional association for visual arts), Central Switzerland section. He lived in Lucerne, was married and had four sons and a daughter.
