Werner Decker

Werner Decker (* 1963 in Speyer ) is the managing director of American Express in Germany .

Life

After completing his high school diploma, he first completed an apprenticeship as a banker at the Kreis- und Stadtsparkasse Speyer, then he studied business administration at the University of Mannheim , graduating with a degree in business administration .

He began his professional career with the Visa credit card company in Frankfurt am Main . He then worked for Santander Direkt Bank AG in the marketing department and later for “Entrium Direct Bankers AG” in Nuremberg , which is now part of ING-DiBa , as Marketing Director. Decker has been with American Express since 1999, initially at "American Express Bank GmbH" and "American Express International". From August 2003 he has been the managing director of “American Express Finanzmanagement GmbH” in Heidelberg . Since July 2005 he has been the head of American Express in Germany and, with 1.3 million credit cards issued, he is the third largest credit card provider in Germany - after Mastercard and Visa.
