Werner Dinger (born July 27, 1924 in Worms ; † October 2012 there ) was an employee of Deutsche Bahn . He has received awards and honors from various bodies for his voluntary work.

Life

Dinger was born on July 27, 1924 in Worms. For 42 years of his professional life he was an employee of Deutsche Bahn. After his active professional life, he was involved in various ways in matters of Worms. For example, he took particular care of the Worms main train station and its appearance, for which he was awarded the honorary title “Bahnhofspate” by Deutsche Bahn.

Dinger's passion was also the Worms football club Wormatia Worms , of which he has been a member for over 60 years. The club awarded him the golden ring of honor for his commitment.

The state administration of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate awarded Werner Dinger for his voluntary work in 1998 with the badge of honor of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Furthermore, the several thousand square meter large allotment garden behind the former Denzenmühle was officially named "Werner-Dinger-Anlage" in his honor, which is located directly on the railway tracks that lead from Worms towards Mainz .

The “Nibelungenbähnchen”, also known as the “Dingerbähnchen” and primarily transports tourists to the various sights, has Dinger's initials on its license plate (WO WD 10). The acquisition of this public transport was made possible by donations amounting to 175,000 euros, which Dinger collected primarily from private households over the course of two years.
