Werner Ellerkmann

Werner Ellerkmann (born September 4, 1929 in Duisburg ; † 2007 ) was a German lawyer and science manager in nuclear research.

Life

Ellerkmann studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1951 he became active in the Corps Brunsviga Munich zu Bonn (today Rhenania-Brunsviga Erlangen). After completing his studies and training as a trainee teacher, he worked for the then Ministry of Nuclear Affairs from 1959 and switched to Euratom in 1961 . Since 1967 worked in the administration of nuclear research facilities, first at the Jülich Research Center , then as the first commercial director of the Hahn-Meitner Institute in Berlin and finally as the administrative director of the Ispra research center in Italy. From 1983 until his retirement in 1994, Ellerkmann served the Central Association of the Public Economy ( CEEP ) in Brussels as general secretary . Ellerkmann was a co-founder of the working groups of large research institutions (today Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers ) and from 1974 to 1976 a member of the board of directors. He was one of the founders of the Kerntechnischen Gesellschaft and was its treasurer from 1969 to 1975. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class .
