The Kerntechnische Gesellschaft eV (KTG) represents the interests of the use of nuclear technology and in particular nuclear energy . In it, the KTG defines its "area of interest" as: "The Kerntechnische Gesellschaft eV strives to promote the progress of science and technology in the field of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and related disciplines."

KTG was founded on April 14, 1969 in Frankfurt / Main. The office was located in Bonn until 2003 and has been Berlin since then . The KTG has around 2,500 members (as of 2008). It is a member of the German Association of Technical and Scientific Associations (DVT) and a founding member of the European Nuclear Society .

It is divided into ten nationally active specialist groups and five regional associations ("sections"). There is also the “Young Generation” section.

Since 1980, the KTG has organized the annual nuclear technology conference at different locations in Germany every year in May together with the German Atomic Forum eV , from which it is financially supported. The lead management for the technical and scientific content of the conference lies with the KTG, which appoints the conference leader and the chairman of the program committee made up of both associations.

The official technical and newsletter of the Kerntechnische Gesellschaft eV is the international trade journal "atw".

In July 2011, the KTG organized a small demonstration by supporters of nuclear power to protest against a hasty nuclear phase-out.

Links to other organizations

There are personal overlaps between the KTG and the association “Bürger für Technik” (BfT), which represents the interests of the energy industry as a citizens' initiative , which critics perceive as astroturfing . Evidence of organizational interlinking can be found in the list of the “Use of Nuclear Technology” specialist group of the KTG on their positions and activities. There, the maintenance of the website "Citizens for Technology" is mentioned along with six other domains and seven pages operated by members. Internet activities are described in detail in reports from the “Use of Nuclear Technology” specialist group. The webmaster of the association BfT website is explicitly named as a member of the Section and administered also by it's website Energy Facts .com as the most successful praised by all. BfT is deeply involved in greenwashing activities on nuclear energy. It is partly supported by KTG members and from the energy industry in Germany.
