Energy facts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Energy Facts is the name of a German-language website with information on energy and the environment . The operators of the website are connected to lobby organizations for the promotion of nuclear energy .

Development and people involved

The website was developed in 2001 on behalf of "various supporters from the energy industry" by the Transfer and Start-up Center for Energy System and Environmental Analysis (TGZ EUsys) in the Technologie-Transfer-Initiative GmbH (TTI), which is linked to the University of Stuttgart by a cooperation agreement.

Joachim Grawe was the publisher until 2008 . He built the site with around a dozen scientists. The current editor is the nuclear physicist Manfred Popp , the current sponsor is the association Energie-Facts eV, founded in 2009 and based in Stuttgart. The chairman of the association is the nuclear engineer Peter Fritz , deputy chairman Rolf Krieg, secretary Manfred Popp and treasurer Klaus Theißing.

There are personnel overlap between the creators of the website and lobbying organizations for the promotion of nuclear energy, in particular the Nuclear Society and the Association of Citizens for Technology eV So Joachim Grawe belonged to the Board of Directors of the German Atomic Forum , and Manfred Popp was, like Peter Fritz formerly CEO of the Nuclear Safety Society. Klaus Theißing is listed as an active member and speaker in the 1999 activity report of the Kerntechnischen Gesellschaft. The International Atomic Energy Agency describes the originators of the internet platform as a lobby organization or “pressure group” and classifies the website as “pro nuclear site”.

In 2011 the website identified a total of 27 authors who were or had been active in various fields of energy technology or energy management.

reception

Publications on the website on topics such as the comparison of the efficiency between coal-fired power plants and nuclear power plants , the harvest factor in photovoltaic systems, the efficiency of power plants in general, the importance of nuclear power plants, the extraction of energy from the sea ( wave and tidal power plants ), the performance of all hydropower plants in Germany, the potential of wind energy , and the external costs of energy generation are u. a. Cited in scientific publications from Amsterdam University Press, Gabler , Oldenbourg , Peter Lang , Springer Science and Wiley-VCH .

As a general resource on the subject of energy or nuclear energy, the website may be used. a. mentioned in publications from Beuth , Gabler and Springer Science.
