Werner Fritschi (born June 21, 1936 in Lucerne ; † February 6, 2019 there ) was a Swiss social worker , journalist and author.

Live and act

Werner Fritschi spent his childhood in the orphanage in Lucerne and with foster parents in Birmenstorf in Aargau . He later got involved in the Catholic youth and social movement. A meeting with Abbé Pierre had a lasting impact on him. After an apprenticeship as a typesetter, Fritschi attended grammar school.

From 1962 to 1970 he headed the youth affairs department of Caritas Switzerland . In this context he took on a pioneering role in Switzerland in dealing with the movement of the " youngsters ". In 1971 he and a team founded the “Jugend + Gesellschaft” advisory service, a small business for youth social research. Fritschi understood his role as a social advisor as mediating between the generations, between the subculture of the youth and the authorities. The company bulletin founded by his office appeared in around 120 issues. Fritschi also published around a dozen books and over 30 basic studies on various social and socio-political issues. In 1988 Fritschi suffered a stroke . He dealt with this limitation and the subsequent rehabilitation process in his autobiography, published in 2008. Fritschi had been married to Pia Schwarzenbach since 1962 and had three children.
