Werner Haas (born December 9, 1936 in Hamburg ) is a German former solo dancer, ballet director , choreographer, director and entrepreneur. and politicians

Life and accomplishments

Haas' career began at the Hamburg State Opera . It took him to the Israeli Opera in Tel-Aviv, where he worked as a ballet director and choreographer, through many domestic and foreign theaters . As a German, he sought contact with Israel to make it clear that for him art is one of the best ways of understanding between Germany and Israel. He was engaged by the American soprano and then director of the opera, Edis de Philippe. For his artistic mediation between Germany and Israel, Haas was suggested for an honorary doctorate, which he received in 1988, at the suggestion of the Italian conductor Sergio Sossi, then working at the National Opera Tel-Aviv. Haas also worked with the St. Petersburg State Ballet under the direction of Askold Makarov . Oleg Vinogradov, the then ballet director of the Kirov Theater (now the Mariinsky Theater ) wanted to establish a Kirov Academy in Germany with Werner Haas, as existed in Seoul and Washington, DC . The project failed due to financial resources. Haas ended his theater career at the State Theater Mainz as chief choreographer and ballet director due to an injury. Haas staged as a director a. a. the Mozart opera Ascanio in Alba as a German premiere, various musicals and also the ballet Das Fest im Süd by Boris Blacher .

After his theater career Werner Haas started a career as a businessman and got actively involved in politics. He was 1st chairman of the CDU association Maschen-Horst-Hörsten, 1st deputy to Norbert Böhlke , MDL, and a member of local and community councils (until 2009). Werner Haas was the CDU's media officer.
