Werner Holzbächer (born July 19, 1917 in Friedland / Silesia, † August 14, 1977 in Heilbronn ) was a German artisan .

Life

He received his training in Silesia with Professor Vonkas at the Academy of Fine Arts in Breslau and with Johannes Maximilian Avenarius , through whom he was friends with Gerhart Hauptmann . Holzbächer initially worked in the Lutz locksmith's shop in Heilbronn , but then went into business for himself in the Heilbronn-Sontheim district with his own blacksmith's workshop.

Holzbächer has created numerous works on behalf of the public. His works in Heilbronn include the figure of St. Florian at the Heilbronn fire station , the entrance to the cemetery of honor , the singing and music-making angels at the entrance to the wedding hall of the registry office, the mourning and music-making angel in the funeral hall of the city hospital, the Phoenix on the harbor market tower , the lattice to the staircase to the organ loft in the Kilian's Church and the eagle above the main entrance of the Heilbronn town hall . Likewise the music-making and cheering angel at the entrance to the wedding room , which was acquired by Mayor Meyle in 1957. In addition, various fountain figures and window bars were commissioned by the public .
