Werner Friedrich Hermann Horn (born April 19, 1903 in Allenstein , East Prussia , † December 8, 1978 in Gotha ) was a cartographer in the service of the Perthes Geographical-Cartographic Institute , which he joined in 1940. After the end of the Second World War he worked for the cartographer Hermann Haack , who was brought back to the old company by the then Soviet occupying forces. Here, at VEB Hermann Haack, he worked until his death in 1978 when he was 75 years old. He was the authoritative secretary of the Petermanns Geographische Mitteilungen .

Horn bequeathed part of his estate to the Gotha Museum. In 2008 the library became the property of the Free State of Thuringia, represented by the Gotha State Archives, as the Museum of Regional History and Folklore of the Friedenstein Foundation , which had been in custody until then , had reoriented itself with regard to its service library and for reasons of capacity. The old signature, starting with the serial number 500, was adopted, the numbers 707, 1266, 1415, 1419, 1430 and 1458 are not assigned or not available. Occasional correspondence can also be found in files in this collection.

Horn was buried in the main cemetery in Gotha , where his gravestone can be found in the grove of honor.
