Werner Kallenbach (born June 29, 1941 in Buckow ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Kallenbach initially completed vocational training as a chemical technician from 1958 to 1960 . Between 1960 and 1962 he obtained his Abitur . From 1962 to 1967 he studied chemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . From 1967 he worked in the clinical laboratory of the Brandenburg State Clinic, and in 1971 he became laboratory manager. In 1981 he became a specialist in medicine , and in 1985 he received his doctorate in biochemistry . He practiced his profession as a qualified chemist until 1994. Kallenbach is married and has one child.

Kallenbach was elected to the city ​​council of Brandenburg an der Havel for the first time in 1990 and was its chairman from 1992 to 2003.

In the state election in Brandenburg in 1994 , Kallenbach was elected to the Brandenburg state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 20 ( Brandenburg / Havel II ) . In the 1999 election he managed to repeat the success and win the constituency again. Kallenbach was a member of parliament from October 11, 1994 to October 13, 2004. In the state parliament he was a member of the Committee for Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Women from 1994 to 2004, until 1999 he was also a member of the Committee on Budget and Finance, from 1999 on Home Affairs Committee. In 2004 he did not run again for election.
