Werner Krause (politician, 1932)

Werner Krause (born August 24, 1932 in Rastenburg , East Prussia , † April 10, 2014 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Werner Krause initially did an apprenticeship as a brandy distiller . He then attended the workers and farmers faculty and graduated from high school in 1955. He then studied chemistry at the University of Greifswald , where he graduated in 1962 as a chemist . He became a research assistant and received his doctorate in 1970 as Dr. rer. nat. Most recently he worked at the Berlin Charité in experimental medical research.

In the course of the transition in the GDR , Krause joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1990 . In the first free East Berlin election in May 1990 , he was elected to the Berlin city council. Even in the joint election in December 1990 , he was able to win the direct mandate in constituency 3 in the Hellersdorf district . In the following election in 1995 , Krause lost his constituency to Petra Pau (PDS). Only when Christine Bergmann became Federal Minister in October 1998 could Krause move up in parliament. A year later he left for good.
