Werner Lazer (born May 17, 1925 ) is a former German football player. For SC progress Weissenfels he played in 1955 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Werner Lazer played his first games in GDR football at the age of 26 in the 1951/52 season with the second-rate GDR league team of the company sports community (BSG) progress Weissenfels. As a striker, he completed 21 of the 22 point games and scored five goals. In the two following seasons he was missing only one league game and scored four or eleven times. With his eleven goals in 1953/54 he was the Weißenfelser's second best scorer behind his storm colleague Alfred Reinhardt (13 goals). In the course of the 1954/55 season the BSG was upgraded to a sports club and rose to the GDR league at the end of the season. Lazer had played in all 26 point games and made a significant contribution to promotion with his ten goals. He could only enjoy top division games in the transitional round matches held in autumn 1955, which were held to transition to the calendar year game operations. Of the 13 games that were played by the league teams, Lazer played nine games and scored twice. He then ended his career in higher-class football.
