Alfred Reinhardt (born March 3, 1928 ) is a former German football player and national player of the GDR .

Athletic career

In 1950, as the second league of the GDR Oberliga designed DDR-Liga commenced its gaming operations, had the BSG Shoe Metro Weissenfels qualified. The team's line-up included the 22-year-old Alfred Reinhardt, who was to storm in the future on the right wing position for the Weißenfelser. He already excelled in his first league season with good performances, so that in August 1951 he was appointed to the GDR student selection, which took part in a tournament at the World Youth Festival in East Berlin.

In 1952, the GDR was accepted into the FIFA World Cup and played its first international matches. After the first two games were lost and only one goal was scored, national coach Willi Oelgardt looked for alternatives in the storm. On June 14, 1953, he offered four new strikers for the game against Bulgaria in Berlin, including Alfred Reinhardt, who was used in the half-right striker position. The game was not lost this time, but the strikers failed again at 0-0.

The next international match was played almost a year later and a new coach came with Hans Siegert . Alfred Reinhardt received no further appointments to the senior national team, on the one hand because he still played with Weißenfels in the second division in the 1954/55 season, and on the other hand, because in the meantime, Horst Assmy and Günter Schröter were two players had established on his position on the national team. Reinhardt was only used once in the B national team.

Although his team, now renamed Progress Weissenfels, rose to the league in 1955 and achieved some good results there until 1960, Reinhardt Weissenfels remained the only national player. With his 28 goals in 117 games, Reinhardt was instrumental in the four successful league seasons of the Weißenfelser. He also remained loyal to his team when they had to play again in the second-rate GDR league after the relegation season in 1960 . At the end of the 1961/62 season, Reinhardt ended his active football career at the age of 34.
