Werner Leins

Werner Leins (born July 11, 1912 in Zwerenberg (Neuweiler) ; † August 27, 1994 in Aachen ) was a German construction officer and university professor.

Life

Werner Leins studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . In 1932 he became a member of one of the forerunner corps of the Corps Friso-Cheruskia Karlsruhe . After completing his studies, he entered the civil service and received his doctorate in 1948 at the Technical University of Stuttgart as a Dr.-Ing. In 1959 he became an employee of the Research Society for Roads . As a result, he became the regional building director and head of the Baden-Württemberg motorway office, most recently as ministerial director. From 1962 until his retirement he was a full professor for roads, earthworks and tunneling at RWTH Aachen University and director of the Institute for Roads. Between 1973 and 1976 he headed the road construction department in the Federal Ministry of Transport.

The main focus of his work was the technical design of motorways. Leins wrote numerous articles in scientific compilations and magazines. He was a member of various specialist committees for science and research.
