Werner Lorenz (lawyer)

Werner Lorenz (born November 15, 1921 in Lichtenstein-Callnberg ; † July 21, 2014 ) was a German lawyer specializing in comparative law and civil law . Until his retirement he was a professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

Lorenz was a soldier in World War II. He studied law in Heidelberg , received his doctorate there in 1951 and also completed his habilitation there in 1957. In 1958 he was offered an appointment at the University of Würzburg , and in 1965 he went to Munich. In 1984 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Copenhagen. A commemorative publication was published on his 70th and 80th birthday.

From the 12th edition to the revision of 1999, he commented on the right to enrichment (§§ 812–822 BGB) in the Staudinger major commentary on the German Civil Code .

His son Stephan Lorenz is also a professor at the law faculty in Munich. Stephan Lorenz now comments on the right to enrichment in the aforementioned comment.
