Werner Marx (Vicar General)
Werner Marx (born October 20, 1746 in Elsdorf , † April 2, 1806 in Cologne ) was Vicar General of the Archbishop of Cologne .
Marx was ordained a priest on September 22nd, 1770, then a Lic. Theol. PhD. He became canon at St. Andreas in Cologne and pastor of the associated parish church St. Paul. Since 1786 he has also been a monastery dean , and after fleeing from the French on October 10, 1794, the vicar general Johann Philipp Jakob von Horn-Goldschmidt appointed him interim vicar general for the occupied territories left of the Rhine, in which the Archbishop of Cologne Maximilian Franz von Austria , after the Death of the Vicar General, confirmed again on January 2, 1797. After the fall of the archbishopric and the abolition of the Andreasstift, Marx became cathedral priest in Cologne.
