Werner Matschke

Werner Matschke (born May 3, 1932 in Dobristroh ; † May 7, 2014 in Kreischa ) was a German conductor .

biography

Werner Matschke completed his conducting studies in Leningrad at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory with Awenir Wassiljewitsch Michailow and Elisavieta Petrovna Kudrjawzewa. He has made a name for himself as a lecturer and prorector of the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden . From 1969 to 1991 he was director of the Kulturpalast Dresden . From 1962 to 2002 he was choirmaster of the Saxon Mountaineering Choir "Kurt Schlosser" Dresden . During this time he composed and arranged around 100 songs for the choir. When he reached the age of 70, Matschke resigned as a choir director and has since worked as a conductor and choir teacher.

Guest conductors have repeatedly led Matschke to Saint Petersburg (Leningrad), Sofia , Uppsala , Altenberg , Lüdenscheid and Schmalkalden .
