Werner Pöhler

Werner Pöhler (born November 12, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player . The midfielder played ten times at Alemannia Aachen in the rounds of 1968/69 and 1969/70 in the Bundesliga and scored one goal.

career

Werner Pöhler's talent developed in the youth of 1. FC Mönchengladbach . On November 26, 1967, he made his debut as a half-forward in the youth national team of the DFB at the international match in Flensburg against Denmark. In the 1: 3 defeat, he and Reiner Geye formed the right wing of the German team. In April 1968 he came in the UEFA youth tournament in France against Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia to two appearances. On May 1, 1968 he was used by DFB coach Udo Lattek in the international match in Belluno against Italy in the amateur national team . In the 0-0 draw, he formed the runner row with Dieter Zorc and Klaus Schmidt . For the 1968/69 round he signed a licensed player contract with Bundesliga club Alemannia Aachen.

When the "Tivoli-Elf" surprisingly won the runner-up in the Bundesliga in the 1968/69 season, the young player was substituted on by coach Michael Pfeiffer on the second and eighth first round matchdays. In the 4-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt on August 24, 1968 for Erwin Hoffmann and on September 28 in the 3-1 defeat against VfB Stuttgart for Karl-Heinz Bechmann . Under the new coach Georg Stollenwerk , Pöhler made three more Bundesliga appearances in the first half of the 1969/70 season. Under his successor Willibert Weth , he won five Bundesliga games in March and April 1970 against FC Schalke 04 (1: 2), FC Bayern Munich (0: 6), Borussia Mönchengladbach (0: 3), Eintracht Braunschweig (1: 1) and the catch-up match day on April 22, 1970, in the 5-0 defeat at Hannover 96. Pöhler scored in the 19th minute the 1-1 equalizer in the 1-1 draw in Braunschweig.

After the two years of the Bundesliga in Aachen, he returned to his home club 1. FC Mönchengladbach in the 1970/71 round in the amateur camp. Later he was also active at Rheydter SV .
